August 2015- PFP Juniors Children, School Leaders, Denis, Gloria, Volunteers, Tires.
Our NEW PFP Jr. Kids
Our new PFP Jr. children are now all fully sponsored and will start school in September! THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all the new sponsors…and welcome to the PFP family!
School Leaders at Victoria
The school last week participated in elections for new school leaders. Within our family we had four children who went through to represent our PFP family, those children include: Mary as the School Head Prefect, Esther as the School Information Prefect, Lydia as the School Head of Monitors and Achia Samuel as the Environmental Prefect. Their swearing in day will be this week and they will officially be in office! Congratulations to these four children for their ability and courage to lead and represent others.
NEW Caretakers!!
We have two new assistant caretakers for our PFP kids!! We are pleased to welcome Gloria & Denis to the PFP family!
A little about Denis…
A year of teaching Primary School, a Bachelors in Education from Makerere University, and an enthusiasm for seeing children learn and flourish makes Denis an excellent caretaker for the Peace for Paul Boys’ Home. Himself having been sponsored by a similar program growing up, Denis is able to relate to our kids in a uniquely personal way. It is his opinion that the best thing about working with children is the privilege of getting to partake in their growth into good people and active community members. At Peace for Paul, we know he is going to be able to do just that.
A little about Gloria…
Gloria has loved working with children for as long as she can remember. She is a Sunday School teacher at her church, holds a certificate in HIV and AIDs counseling, and expects to graduate with a Bachelors in Human Resource Management from Makerere University in January, 2016. In a very short time Gloria proved to have an inspiring work ethic and to possess a fantastic influence on all the children she interacted with. It is a privilege to have her as a permanent member of the team as a caretaker at Peace Home.
Volunteer Visitors from Afar!!
For the August holiday, we will welcome two new volunteers, Kristin from Colorado and Livia from Switzerland. In addition, we will welcome sponsors and visitors Mollie Sharp with son Ethan, Karmen Eslinger and Tracy Binder. Brandi, Will and Brad are still in Uganda with the children. It will be a full house and the kids are very excited!!
Construction & Maintenance Update
Hope Home’s renovation projects are expected to be completed by the time the children return from school. They have no idea that their home has changed so much!
In addition to Hope Home’s renovation which also included full paint, we had some other maintenance done around the home: the water tower base is completed, shelter roofing is being installed and concrete and drainage construction continues.
TIRES, TIRES & More TIRES!!
Brandi, Will & Brad will be creating a playground with the help of the children made of tires for the kids during the next Holiday! We were able to raise $400 to make this happen…our CrowdTilt goal was $300 for the playground and we managed to raise an extra $100 which will allow us to add additional items to the playground!! 🙂
Backpacks For Our BOYS!!
This year, the boys will be receiving their backpacks…2014 was the girls year for the packages!
Heidi & Tomasz and family will hand deliver them in December. The backpacks will include: 2 shirts, 1 pair of athletic shorts, underwear, 1-2 small books, a toy/trinket, a letter and photos from their sponsor. This is the sponsors chance to get personal with their kids!!!
Contact us at hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org if you have any questions regarding this opportunity.
Family Sponsorships
We are still in need of family dental/mental health/medical sponsors!! The sponsorship is either in the amount of $25/$50 or $100/ month.
