PFP Junior Sponsors Needed
There are now 30 children in the PFP Junior program happily attending school— many for the first time.
All children currently in the PFP Junior program are fully sponsored, but we will soon be profiling 4 more children. For only $35 per month, you could sponsor a child through the PFP Junior Program and help a very deserving little person fulfill their dreams.

What is the PFP Junior Program?
The PFP Junior Program allows us to help a larger number of needy Ugandan children obtain an education. The children who benefit from our PFP Junior Program live in our neighborhood and their parents or guardians are unable to afford the full amount of school fees, uniforms and school supplies. Because they have families to look after them, these children will not be living in our home. Rather, these children will live with their families and be sponsored through PFP for education healthcare costs only. This program is designed to be a helping hand to parents who can provide but need some support to contribute to their child’s education and future. The parents pay a small portion of school fees only to keep them involved and empowered to educate their children instead of depending solely on handouts. This program allows an education to be attainable for so many children and their families. In addition, we can help save for the much higher costs of Secondary School.
“All kids need is a little help, a little hope and someone who believes in them.”

Meet Juma
Juma is a very shy, but super sweet little boy. If you take the time to get to know him, you will find a funny, intelligent little guy who loves sports (all kinds!) and loves to play with his friends. When he grows up, he wants to become a basketball player and he says his favorite thing to do is to go to the field and play soccer. His favorite food is chips and chicken and he loves the color yellow! To see his profile page, click here.
Juma’s Story
Juma was born in the slums of Masese to an uneducated and unemployed mother and father. When he was very young, both parents disappeared leaving him to fend for himself. Originally it was believed his mother had died. Recently she returned to Masese though is unable to care for Juma. He does not remember his father or know if he is alive. When he was living in the slums, he would sometimes be able to attend school. Food was very unstable and “some days we didn’t have food and other days we would get one meal.”
Now that he is a part of the Peace for Paul family, Juma has the chance to attend school and to live a life full of hope for the future. He is a quiet child who enjoys all sports and attending school.
Birthday Celebration!
Every holiday, thanks to our birthday sponsor, we are able to throw a great party for all of the children whose birthdays fall between the end of last holiday and end of the current one. This holiday, we celebrated birthdays for Helen, John Bosco, Rose, Alex, Josephine, Simon Peter, Lomilo, Lomongin, Ilukol, Sylvia, Mark, Priscilla, Florence, Agnes, Longoli, Waibi, Apaita, Angella, Michael, Fatuma, Sanyu, Lotte, Ayaki and Allan! As usual, the children wanted to go swimming, so swim they did! The day at the pool was followed by a big birthday dinner and the giving of gifts. What a wonderful day!
Medical Care
As usual, Doctor Mufumba is there to provide quality health care to our children during holidays and throughout the school year. We just love this guy!
Mental Health
Before joining our family, many of the PFP children had lived through intense emotional and physical trauma. We take the mental health of our children very seriously and have searched high and low for years to find just the right counselor to add to our full time staff. We have finally found her! Rachael comes to us with many years of experience and many qualifications which make her a perfect fit for our little family. She rotates between the homes and does both group and individual therapy sessions for all of our children. It is already clear that the children trust her and with her help, we will be more well equipped to help them when they need it. We are so excited to have Rachael join our growing team!
Dental Checkup
This year we have finally identified the PERFECT dental clinic for our large family- Hope Smiles Dental Clinic! Not only did they travel to our home to provide (FREE) dental exams this holiday, but they conducted lessons on oral hygiene as well. In their own words: “we work relentlessly to restore hope and dignity one smile, one patient at a time. We strive to make high-quality, compassionate dental care available to all Ugandans”. We are proud to be working with this amazing group of dedicated, compassionate and capable dentists.

Girls Day Out!
The PFP girls had a special day out, just for them…no boys allowed! They went swimming, ate snacks, and enjoyed the day and each other’s company.
Journey to Moroto
We believe that family ties are very important for children and PFP does everything it can to ensure relationships between children and relatives thrive. This holiday, 24 children (accompanied by three PFP staffers) made the long journey to Moroto (Northern Uganda) and you can just see how happy everyone was to see each other. The trip was unbelievably successful. Everyone found the relatives they were looking for and had a chance to spend 3 days visiting and remembering the culture they had come from. A few of the older boys had the chance to help build thatched roof huts for grandparents and even try their hand at hunting in “the bush”.
Skills Training
PFP strives not only to provide a quality academic education for each of the children in our program, but also to equip them each with the life skills they will need to thrive once they leave our homes. This holiday, they worked on refining their tailoring skills and shoe repair. Lots of progress being made here!
Sports Program
The PFP Sports program continues! Three days per week, all of the children meet at the field to let out some of that energy! They play soccer, do acroyoga, play cards, and just run around like the crazy, happy kids they are!
Welcome to the Team!
This month, we welcomed three new Members to the PFP team! Cody and Allison Nirschl were both a part of the December delegation and decided they wanted to get even more involved. They are now attending monthly meetings and working with Dr Mufumba to secure much needed medical supplies. We are so grateful!
Nicole Peschel comes to us as a PFP Junior sponsor and a future delegate on the upcoming August trip! She has signed on as our Secretary and will be taking our meeting minutes. Thank you Nicole!!
New Members Needed
We are continually looking to expand our Peace for Paul team and need people with skills and time to share with this great cause!
Here is a short description of what a PFP Member is:
Peace for Paul is managed by its Board of Directors. There is also a Member pool, which is where people like you–who show an interest, can get their feet wet and see if becoming a Director is something you would like to pursue. We look for people who have a love for the PFP mission and its children and for people who have knowledge and skills to offer which would help PFP grow. As a member, you are invited to (though not required to) attend our monthly Director meetings (via Skype). You are asked to help with our two annual fundraisers (by selling tickets for the raffle, or helping to collect items for the auction). You are also offered the chance to join our various committees if you have an interest in any of them and have a skill that could contribute to its growth. Our current committees are: Sustainability, Education, Social Mission and Fundraising. It is also ideal, if as a member, you take on a specific project. The idea being that you really can dig in and get involved. You could come up with your own project–something you think PFP could benefit from. We would leave that with you!
