    Gift’s Story

Babirye lives in Mbiko town with her mother, her father and her three siblings. She has a twin brother Waiswa, who is also enrolled in the PFP Juniors program. Babirye’s father once had a job working part time as a driver, but has been laid off and is now seated at home.  Her mother runs a small business where she sells tomatoes, onions, green peppers and bananas. Education is expensive in Uganda, and as the family survives on a single parent income, there is not enough left over to pay school fees in addition to meeting all of their basic needs.

Babirye has completed one term of nursery school and while she loved attending school, her family was not able to come up with the funding to keep her in school for the entire year. Through the PFP Junior scholarship program, Babirye will receive the financial assistance she needs to finish school and reach all of her dreams. Her family will work hand in hand with PFP to ensure Babirye receives the financial, physical and emotional support she will need to thrive.
