    Bushira’s Story

Bushira’s father abandoned her mother when she was four months along in her pregnancy. He has not returned and does not send any support, so mom does the best she can to support Bushira on a single income. Bushira’s mother has not received any formal education and finding work has proven challenging for her. She is a loving and determined woman however, so she walks around the village in which they live, asking people if they have clothes that she can wash for them to earn money to feed the family. Unfortunately, many villagers are living in poverty as well, and few can pay others to wash or cook for them.

Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Bushira attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a nurse someday. While PFP supports her with education and medical expenses, Bushira continues to live with her mom and siblings, who she loves very much. Her mom works hand in hand with PFP and is proud to play a role in supporting Bushira in being able to attend school.
