Our Team: The “Staff Spotlight” Series

We recognize the contributions of our dedicated staff members in Uganda. Without their commitment and hard work, we would not be able to fulfill our mission of providing care and support to the children under our care. We are truly grateful for their invaluable role in keeping our organization running smoothly.

To showcase the individuals behind the scenes, we are excited to introduce the “Staff Spotlight” series on our blog. Each month, we will shine a well-deserved spotlight on one staff member or support staff member, offering you a glimpse into their important work and the impact they make on a daily basis. From our social workers and caregivers to our administrative staff and nurse, every team member plays a vital role in shaping the lives of our children. They provide love, guidance, and support, nurturing the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of each child in our care.

To our amazing staff members, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for everything you do. Your hard work, compassion, and dedication make a significant difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. Thank you for being the driving force behind our organization’s success.

Dental Care

Besides standard medical care, PFP offers dental and orthodontic services, mental health therapy, counseling, and comprehensive medical treatments to address all aspects of a child’s health. In July, Moses underwent significant dental procedures. He had lost his two front teeth due to a lack of proper dental care during his early years. Thanks to the support from his sponsor and the PFP team, Moses received new teeth this month, and he couldn’t be more thrilled!

Birthday Celebrations

Every month, we work hard to ensure that each child in our program feels special on their birthday. To make this happen, we have a series of celebrations planned for each student, ending with in a big celebration at the swimming pool during school holidays.

Over the course of the birthday month, our team organizes a small celebration (usually delivering treats and sponsor letters to the child at school) to make each child feel loved. We encourage sponsors to get involved by sending gifts or letters to their sponsored child. As the years have gone on, we have noticed more and more sponsors are getting involved by either sending funds for gifts or writing letters and sending pics. We have loved watching it unfold and get better and better each year!

Happy Birthday to Our July Birthday Girls and Boys- we wish you all the best as we celebrate YOU this coming month!

If you are the sponsor of a birthday child this month, you are welcome to send us an email and we can work together to make your child’s day even more special!

Pen Pals!

The PFP students LOVE to receive letters and photos from their sponsors. For many, they consider their sponsor like family, even if they’ve never met. Writing letters goes a long way toward making that connecting real, on both sides. Over the years we have seen more sponsors getting involved by regularly sending birthday or Christmas letters and we love how happy it makes everyone involved!

Back at School

The children in the PFP program have returned to their respective schools and are fully engaged in their studies, working hard every day to take positive steps toward their future. Our dedicated team makes regular visits to these schools, providing essential support and showering the children with love and care. These visits serve as a reminder to the children that their PFP “aunties” and “uncles” are always by their side, offering encouragement and support every step of the way.

The AHU (A Hand Up) Program

As a part of the ‘A Hand Up’ program, PFP students aged 18 and above are tasked with volunteering for their local communities as a way to earn their PFP scholarship and monthly upkeep. Each student is asked to find the task that brings meaning to them as an individual. In June, we saw our students take on a variety of meaningful tasks within their communities.

Featured below is Bush, helping local children to pump water from their well, Muhammad, helping to relocate the playground at Love Home and Michael helping with disposal of waste at Love Home.
