Dorothy’s Story
Dorothy’s parents live in deep poverty and always struggled to find work in the village where they lived. The family most often went without food or other basic necessities and though they love her very much, the cost of school fees was too high and Dorothy had not been able to attend school regularly. Her parents eventually the village to look for work, but did not bring Dorothy with them. A teacher in the village realized the struggle Dorothy was living through and she took her in as one of her own children. As one person on a teacher’s salary, even she struggled to raise the fees for Dorothy to attend and she almost always went without school supplies.
Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Dorothy attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a teacher, just like her friend and guardian. While PFP supports Dorothy with education and medical costs, she continues to live with the kind teacher and enjoys spending time with her new family.
