Lomilo’s Story

I was born in Masese, a very poor place in Uganda (a slum). I lived here with my dad for some time. My mother went away to jail after doing some bad things. Sometime later, my father also left us. My other brothers and sisters and I went to stay with our grandmother but she was old and could not work. She didn’t have money so food and medicine when we were sick was not always there. My grandmother would go to town and dig in rubbish pits for food and other things that could be sold. Soon, my siblings and I went to town where we would beg for food or anything. This was our only way to survive.

It was never possible for us to study, but after some time Peace for Paul came and saved us. I am now studying with my sister Natule, and we have everything like beds for sleeping, a television and I can play football. I love learning the most!
