    Leah’s Story

Luuka lives with her mother (Agnes) and her elder brother (Rupia) in Njeru near PFP’s Hope Home. When Luuka was a baby, her father had traveled to The Congo to look for work to support his family. Sadly, he had been ambushed and killed on the way, leaving Luuka’s mother alone to support her children. Agnes is a single mother, and while she works very hard to provide, she has no formal education and has struggled to find employment. Luuka and Rupia travel with their mother to neighboring villages in search of people who need help washing clothes or other domestic work.

Unfortunately, with the low rate of income, Agnes struggles to pay rent for the family and has not been able to save enough to send Luuka to school. Luuka has tried to help her mom by going to work with her, but she keeps her eyes set on the prize and her dream has always been to return to school again one day.

Through the PFP Junior scholarship program, Luuka will receive the financial assistance she needs to finish school and reach her dreams. Her mother will work hand in hand with PFP to ensure Luuka receives the financial, physical and emotional support she will need to thrive.
