    Julius’ Story

Julius’ mother and father were divorced when he was 1 year old and after the divorce, his father disappeared. His mother remarried and had two additional children but soon divorced from the second husband as well. She left the two younger children with the second husband and moved out with Julius. Sadly, his mother is deaf and has a mental disability as well. After the second divorce she had a mental breakdown and “ran mad” as was described by the police chief. As she was unable to obtain employment, mother and son had to resort to sleeping on the streets and searching rubbish piles for food. They often went without food or shelter of any kind and they were abused by groups on the street. After seeing the two sleeping on the ground for many days and nights, a concerned neighbor reported the situation to the police. The probation officer intervened and rescued the child. Julius was removed from the street and the mother was sent for treatment at a mental health institution. In January 2021, Julius came home the Peace for Paul Foundation where he will find safety, stability and love. PFP will work hard to ensure that Julius can maintain a relationship with his mother in a safe atmosphere. He will now be able to attend school and will look toward his future with hope.
