Mercy’s Story
“My father passed away in 2009 when I was still young. My mom is alive but living with AIDS so she is always sick. My jaja (grandmother) takes care of me while my other two siblings were sent to live in the village with other family. My jaja has a small garden where she grows some food for us to eat and to sell. She works hard to care for me and wants me to attend school but the money is not always there. I would like to go to school so I can be a nurse someday”.
Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Mercy attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a nurse someday. While PFP supports Mercy with education and medical expenses, she continues to live with her grandmother, who she loves very much.
