    Gloria’s Story

“I live with my grandmother and my three siblings.  We lost our mother and father a few years ago to HIV/AIDS.  The death of my parents was the beginning of so many struggles for us.  The relatives we were left with were mistreating us.  They were refusing to give us food and caning us.  Eventually our grandmother came to rescue us.  She is a good woman and loves us but we struggle to have money for food and rent.  Even though she is old, my grandmother worked as a maid and washed people’s clothing to make money to support us.  But then she became so sick and can no longer work.  Since that time almost two years ago, I have not been going to school.  I dream about going back to school and becoming a nurse”.

Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Gloria attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a nurse someday. While PFP supports Gloria with education and medical expenses, she continues to live with her grandmother and three siblings, who she loves very much.
