Tracy’s Story
Tracy is the last born child into a family of eight children. Before she was born, her mother ran away from the family due to abuse by her husband (the father of Tracy’s seven other siblings). Tracy’s mother had a difficult time supporting herself while she was gone and turned to prostitution as a means to survival. It was in this way that Tracy was conceived and Tracy doe snot know who her real father is. After Tracy was born, her mother’s husband (the one she had run away from) came to collect his wife. When he found out she was pregnant with Tracy, he was angry and to this day refuses to support Tracy since she is not his child.
Tracy’s mother is HIV positive and is sick quite often. She has tried her best to help her daughter Tracy, but has largely been unable to do so. Up to this point, she has managed to send her to a very poor school nearby, but fees were often not paid in full so Tracy has not been able to collect her report cards. Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Tracy attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a doctor someday. While PFP supports Tracy with education and medical expenses, she continues to live with her mother, who she loves very much.
