Badiru’s Story
Badiru’s mother suffers from epilepsy, which had gone undiagnosed for many years. This made it impossible for her to go to work and support her family. Badiru’s father abandoned them when Badiru was a very young child. Badiru’s grandmother intervened by taking them both in to her own home and taking over responsibility of raising Badiru. Unfortunately, Badiru’s grandmother is HIV positive and falls sick often. Her income is not stable and the family struggles for survival.
Badiru loves school so much but was always sent back home because of failure to pay his school fees. Now a part of the PFP Juniors program, Badiru attends a highly ranked primary school and has big dreams to become a pilot someday. PFP helped Badiru’s mother to get proper treatment and medication for her epilepsy and she is now able to work and help raise her children. While PFP supports Badiru with education and medical expenses, he continues to live with his mom and grandma and loves them so much.
