A reason to celebrate!
With the addition of a sponsor for Chipa in April, now every single one of the children across all of PFP’s programs is fully sponsored! We are continually humbled by the love and generosity of our community. We are doing wonders, together and changing the world, one life at a time.
If you are interested in sponsorship through PFP, please just reach out and for $35-$50/month we will be able to profile a new child in our community who is unable to attend school due to a lack of school fees. Your sponsorship would allow this child to get enrolled in school and start looking toward their future with HOPE.

Home for the (School) holiday
They have done it! PFP’s children have completed their first full term back at school after a nearly two year school closure. They’re glad to be home for a short rest, but are excited to go back as well. For the two weeks most of our children have been home, it has been a whirlwind of fun and activities. Our AHU students have been keeping them busy with activities (such as baking, dance classes and tutoring) and everyone has been excited to practice their bike riding skills and write to their sponsor letters. There was a BIG birthday celebration at the swimming pool, complete with a big meal out, cake, sodas and streamers!

Team AHU (A Hand Up)
PFP is working hard at preparing our older students for the “real world” outside of PFP. When a student enters Senior 5 (usually at about 18 years of age), they are moved into the “A Hand Up” program. They still receive all of the benefits that all PFP children do, however now they are required to give back to their PFP family or community. Each AHU student volunteers 20 hours per week on school holidays and has the opportunity to showcase their specific skill set to better the lives of the PFP children or at risk community members.
A few examples from this month, is Peter (a University student), spending 3 hours per day, teaching baking classes for the children at Love Home. This month, they learned how to make Mandazi!

Ajuna spent his time sitting with each of the younger students to help them with their sponsor letters. He has many years of English and sponsor letter writing under his belt and helped them with English, grammar and with ideas on what to write so each sponsor would be informed on their day to day life both within school and at home.

Charlie continued his photo project, taking photos of every child in our program. He takes a new profile photo for each child every school holiday and we LOVE the beautiful work he does!

Thanks men, for your contributions this month! We are so grateful and proud of you!
Career Guidance
Our Education Director Nathan (also a pharmacist, the Director/owner of Victoria Junior School and the General Manager of EcoPharm Pharmacies) visited our family and provided a Career Guidance session this month. Each and every holiday, Nathan takes time to come and discuss the current education system and job market and encourage the PFP children and young adults to work hard and improve on performance. The children/young adults left the session energized and excited for their futures!

Birthday Celebrations
Happy, happy birthday to our birthday celebrants! We always do our best to make sure every child in our main program gets a chance to feel special on their birthday. Each child receives a gift and has a small celebration during their birthday week followed by a BIG birthday celebration all together at the swimming pool during school holidays. Many sponsors get involved by sending gifts to their child as well. All children deserve to feel special on their day and we always do our best to make it so!
This holiday, the long awaited birthday party was done! All of the birthday celebrants (whose birthdays fell from February through May) were taken for a surprise birthday party at the swimming pool in town, complete with the invitation of one special friend each, a nice lunch out for all and birthday cake. Upon returning home, all of the PFP family was waiting with big birthday tents, more cake and snacks, and birthday presents for all! Our AHU team members took photos and lead a dance party too. Happy birthday kids!!!

2021 Annual Report
Did you know that we have an “Accountability” page on our website? On this page, you can find everything from our 3 year strategic plan to our tax filings and annual report.
The PFP Junior Program
The Juniors Program works with families in our community so parents may be able to send their children to school. These children live full time with their families but for them, poverty has prevented the children from attending school regularly. This program is a partnership between parents and PFP to supplement on what they are able to contribute so parents may take pride in being able to send their children to school through their own hard work. The ages of children in this program range from four years to eighteen years of age and we currently have 89 students who are benefiting from this partnership.
PFP Juniors Supplemental Programs
In an effort to address the needs of the whole child and his or her family, our PFP Juniors coordinator has ramped up the supplemental programs being offered. Each month, during school holidays, there is a regular schedule for career guidance, hygiene and sex education, skills lessons (knitting, painting, tailoring and dance lessons), mental health therapy, family planning and birth control for parents, community outreach programs (food distribution and family empowerment), fun day, and tutoring. The Juniors children are LOVING it and getting involved with more and more programs by the week!
